Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has donated 20 streetlights to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) camp in Iseyin to improve security at the camp.
The streetlights were handed over on Wednesday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Security Matters, Hon. Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire, to Mr Yinka, Personal Assistant to the NYSC State Coordinator, at the Oyo State Security Trust Fund office.
The donation came in response to a request made by the scheme during Bibire’s visit to the camp, where he assessed the security requirements of the permanent orientation site and received updates on its operational needs.
Speaking during the presentation, Bibire said the donation gives credence to the fact that Governor Makinde cares very strongly about the welfare and security of corps members in Oyo State.
“When we visited the camp, you told us that streetlights were needed to bolster security within the premises. I assured you that we have a listening Governor who gives ear to the needs of the people. Today, Governor Seyi Makinde has made good his promise by providing these streetlights.
“This provision gives credence to the fact that Governor Seyi Makinde does not pay lip service to the welfare and security of corps members in Oyo State,” he said.
Bibire also assured that other important concerns raised during his visit to the camp would be addressed.
“Let me assure you that all the important issues raised will also be addressed,” he affirmed.
Mr Yinka, speaking on behalf of the NYSC State Coordinator, thanked Governor Makinde for his support for the scheme, saying the Governor had never turned down any request from the NYSC and had shown himself to be a lover of the scheme.
